Relief & Development
Relief & Development of SRC International
These are underlining principle for our relief & development missions.
- Relief goes beyond our races and religious positions: A Samaritan person as the one who gives relief to the robbery victim instead of the religious leaders should challenge all Christians to act and be a Good Samaritan when we are in the position to help.
- Relief should lead to the development process whenever possible: The Samaritan person did not just give “one-time” help but promised to follow up in helping the person. Development work is like the “follow up” of the initial relief work to help the people stand on their own feet.
- Relief expands our neighbors: It’s an opportunity to expand our call to mission in being “neighbors” to the people who are suffering and in need.
Jesus’s story of the Good Samaritan helps us to draw a guideline of Christian Relief & Development works. It’s especially important for SRC because we are not a “relief” organization. SRC is an evangelical mission community who at times call to act and react to the suffering people who may perish without help from someone else. With limited resources, SRC knows that we have to be wise and effective in our relief work. At same time, we follow the model of the Good Samaritan and not of the religious leaders. Therefore, we partner with other relief and mercy organizations in providing relief work. Also, we focus on the people who we are called, who we meet. SRCI is ready to give emergency relief to bring healing and reconciliation to the ones in need.
Currently, we are partnering with an organization who support malnourished children in NK to bring essential diets and support. We cannot educate the children, but we become spiritual presence through physical support to the children whom Jesus loves. Also in SE Asia, we are given opportunity not only to bring relief work but to provide educational development work in nurturing and educating the marginalized children. SRC International’s relief and development projects continue to open up the hearts and boarders of the nations and people who serve.
