Kwang & Hyunjoo
Their ethnic focus group has been the Mien people, who are largely scattered throughout the mountainous areas of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Kwang & Hyun had served Mien people for eighteen years and in 2018, returned to US for one term of pastoral ministry.
Though they returned from the mission field, Kwang and Hyun continued to have hearts for the Mien people. They just did not know how God would lead them in the future. While serving on the pastoral ministry team at the home church, God gradually gave them a strong desire to go to serve the Mien people in NE Thailand, near the border of Laos, through evangelism and church planting. In the past, they had lived in a Mien village in Thailand for one and a half years for the purpose of Mien language study.
In October 2022, they returned to Thailand and began studying the Mien language again since they have not had regular use of the language for the last five years. Even though Thailand may be the primary location of their mission, Kwang will also connect with the Mien people in the neighboring countries.
They have four sons who grew up in the mission field, and they are now adults living and working in each of their own fields in the USA.
Prayer topics:
⦁ Pray that they will step forward in boldness, doing all things out of the love for God.
⦁ Pray that God would prepare for prayer partners and financial partners so that we can work together for the Mien ministry.
⦁ Pray that God would prepare for the heart of unreached Mien people for the Gospel.
